Of course, it is like any other thing that someone tries to sell ...along with the over-inflated claims, they also tailor it to your individual needs.

It also depends upon what you already believe, but usually follows 3 basic steps:

  • Initiate interaction by curiosity or genuine interest
  • Offer the challenge
  • Question the motive of any opposition

Saul Alinsky had his ideas:
Power is not only what you have, but what they think you have.
•Make them live up to their own book of rules. No one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is little defense to the irrational power of emotions. It builds infuriation. It also works as a key pressure point to force others into concessions.
Keep the pressure on. Never let up. Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
•The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. Imagination and ego can dream up many more fears and consequences than reality.
•If you push hard enough, the other side may finally respond and you can use that to win the public to your side through a distortion of the truth.
•Personalize it to gain sympathy. Act like the victim, and incite people. People hurt faster than taking the longer road of establishing ideologies and institutions.

Adolph Hitler and Goebbels had their ideas:
  • The great masses will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one
  • If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

And the Weather Underground said that 2 to 3 thousand more people would die each additional day longer the Vietnam war dragged on ...yet, that would mean that in a month and a half, as many people would die on both sides as did in the entire nearly 8 year war.

Yes, wars are ugly ...and so is the several thousands of babies aborted each day, exceeding one million every year. And to think that the U.S. is the culprit in the world's violence ...just look what is happening around the world while the U.S. is sitting back doing virtually nothing. Virtually nothing would not have stopped the horrific killing of World War II.

Today's equivalent is like the U.S. saying they are going to put sanctions on a nation to prevent them from baking a cake ...by not allowing them to have a stirring stick. They have all the ingredients, yet we believe they can't stir it?? They can use their foot to stir it!! That would be an unfair exchange ...us putting our foot in our mouth, a foul smelling foot without the benefit of the frosting.

We see much violence around the world ...so what do we actually believe in???
